Apple Snow Leopard 10.6.7 Font Fix

Just Updated to 10.6.7 – (Snow Leopard Font Problems Fixed)

I know it’s tempting to click the “Install” button on those Software Update prompts that bug you, but if you are a professional with deadlines like myself, you can’t afford having your machine go down for even a minute. Even if its a minor problem like screen flicker or displaying fonts, remember the saying “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”

Why? Because even Apple fumbles from time to time creating new problems in these updates while trying to fix other problems. 10.6.6 had some Final Cut Pro problems and other display problems so I skipped the update entirely. I didn’t jump on 10.6.7 when it was announced and sure enough, within a week the font problems emerged. Now with the fonts fixed I will give the 10.6.7 a try. Fixes:

-Addresses an issue in which some OpenType fonts don’t display correctly in certain applications.
-Resolves issues printing from Preview.
-Addresses an issue with PDF files not opening in third-party PDF viewing applications such as sodapdf.
-Resolves invalid font errors when printing to PostScript printers.

My advice:

Get SuperDuper (what I used) or Time Machine (comes with Snow Leopard) and backup your HD before you update. Rolling back updates isn’t supported natively in Snow Leopard so a complete backup is your best bet to ensure you don’t lose any functionality of your machine.

Now Running 10.6.7…. Crossing Fingers……
